National Trust launches Bluebell Watch

The National Trust has announced the launch of a guide to help walkers find bluebells while enjoying some of the country’s walking routes.
With more than a quarter of its woodland ancient or semi-natural – which is perfect for bluebells to flourish – the trust plays an important part in maintaining these beautiful flowers.
The flowers normally appear towards the end of April, however, due to the cold snap which swept the UK earlier this year, the organisation believes their arrival will be delayed.
“After the coldest winter for more than 30 years it’s likely that the bluebell season will be up to three weeks late this year – sometime around mid-May,” the trust stated.
The new resource set up by the body will give walkers tips on which walking routes will feature the flowers and the best time to go and see them.
A rare lichen Micarea was recently discovered on damp, shaded volcanic rocks on the Killerston estate in Devon, the National Trust has announced.
